You'll get a download code for the purchased DLC that you can redeem on the other version of the game.
For instance, if you purchase the Mii Fighter Costume Bundle #1 for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on your Nintendo 3DS family system, you'll receive a download code that can be redeemed on your Wii U. The same is true if your purchase first on the Wii U, you'll get a code for your Nintendo 3DS family system.

Where do I find my Nintendo 3DS download code?

The issued download code is located in the Nintendo eShop receipt for the DLC purchase. Follow the steps below to find and redeem the download code.

  1. Access the Nintendo eShop on Wii U.
  2. The issued download code will be located on the receipt associated to the purchase.

To redeem the code:

  1. Make sure your copy of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is updated to version 1.0.6. or higher.
  2. Launch Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and select Notices & DLC Shop.
    • If this option isn't appearing, the game hasn't been updated to the correct version yet.
  3. Select DLC Shop, then select Enter Download Code.
  4. Enter the download code, then select OK.
  5. The download will begin. Once the download is finished, you will be able to use the DLC item.
    • If you are unable to use the DLC right away, please restart the game.
