What do i need to know BEFORE Unlocking a Blackberry Phone:

1. Make sure to Check That it is not stolen (it won't work on any network in North America if it is reported stolen, even if it is network unlocked)

Is it Legal to Unlock a Blackberry?

Unlocking your Blackberry is completely legal in all the Countries that we have checked however it is always possible that laws can be changed. If you are still financing the phone through your carrier then technically they still own the phone until you pay for it off completely. In that case you're carrier may not want you to unlock it for they fear you will run away to another carrier without actually paying the remaining balance owed on your Blackberry!

If you bought the Blackberry second-hand or got it from a friend then you may not be sure If your Blackberry is locked or not, the simple way to find out is to pop in a SIM card from a different Network. If it's locked, then the Blackberry won't work on that network. If it works then you can be sure that the Blackberry is unlocked and not blacklisted.

However if it does not work with a SIM card from a different carrier, this can also mean that it is blacklisted. You are better off spending a dollar or two and purchasing a Blacklist Checker report just to be sure.

How to find out whether your Blackberry needs the MEP 2 or MEP 4 code :

1. Go to Menu, Options, Advanced Options and then SIM Card.
2. Hit the menu button and select show keyboard.
3. Type in MEPD using the keyboard (nothing will show on screen).
4. Network is Mep 2 and Service Provider is Mep 4. So if Network shows active then enter the Mep 2 code and if Service provider shows active, then enter the Mep 4 code.

Example:

• SIM: Disabled
• Network: Active
• Network Subset: Disabled
• Service Provider: Disabled
• Corporate: Disabled

The above example required the MEP 2 code.

How To Unlock Blackberry:

Important note:

• You can attempt to unlock the device up to 10 times. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the Original network.
• If you have received a MEP2 and a MEP4 code, then please read the explanation at the end of this section

To unlock a device with BlackBerry 10 OS:

Includes the BlackBerry Z10, Q10, Q5, and Z30.

1. Insert a SIM card from a different carrier into the device and turn it on.
2. Open the Settings
3. Select Security and Privacy.
4. Select SIM Card.
5. In the Phone Network Lock section, select Unlock Network.
6. The message 'Enter the Network MEP code' will appear. Enter the network lock code and press OK.
   Note: the network lock code may be 16 digits long or 8 digits long. The correct code may be either the full 16 digits, the first 8 digits or the last 8 digits. (see the end of this section for the explanation). If the first eight digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last eight digits only.
7. The message 'Network Code Entered Successfully' will appear once the device has been unlocked.

To unlock a BlackBerry PRIV:

1. Insert a SIM card from a different carrier into the device and turn it on.
2. The message 'SIM Network unlock PIN' will appear. Enter the network lock code and press Unlock.
   Note: the network lock code may be 16 digits long or 8 digits long. The correct code may be either the full 16 digits, the first 8 digits or the last 8 digits. (see the end of this section for the explanation). If the first eight digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last eight digits only.
3. The message 'Network Code Entered Successfully' will appear once the device has been unlocked.

To unlock a BlackBerry Passport, Leap or Classic:

1. Insert a SIM card from another provider into the device and turn it on.
2. Open the Settings
3. Select Security and Privacy.
4. Select SIM Card.
5. Select Unlock Network.
6. Enter the network lock code and press OK.
   Note: the network unlock code may be 16 digits long or 8 digits long. The correct code may be either the full 16 digits, the first 8 digits or the last 8 digits. To unlock a device with BlackBerry OS version other than 6.0 or BB 10 OS :

1. Select Manage Connections.

3. Select Options.
4. Select Advanced Options.
5. Select SIM Card.
6. Enter MEPD.
   Note: you won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only MEPD with no spaces.
7. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP2.
   Note: you won't be able to see the typed info. Enter only MEP2 with no spaces.
8. Press Enter.
9. The message 'Enter the Network MEP code' will appear. Enter the network lock code and press OK.
   Note: the network lock code may be eight digits or 16 digits long. If it is 16 digits, then the first 8 digits is the Network Code (MEP2) and the Last 8 Digits is the Service Provider Code (MEP4). Only enter the 8 digits that is required for your phone (see the end of this section for the explanation).If the first eight digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last eight digits.
10. The message 'Code Accepted' will appear once the device has been unlocked. If the Service Provider Lock Code provided is all zeros, the unlocking procedure has been successful. If not, continue with the following steps.
11. Press and hold the ALT key as you enter MEP4.
    Note: the network unlock code may be 16 digits long or 8 digits long. The correct code may be either the full 16 digits, the first 8 digits or the last 8 digits. (see the end of this section for the explanation). If the first eight digits are all zeros, ignore them and enter the last eight digits only.
12. The message 'Code Accepted' will appear once the device has been unlocked.

5. Go to the Options menu and select Device.
6. Select Advanced System Settings.
7. Select SIM Card.
8. Press the BlackBerry key and select Show Keyboard.
9. Enter MEPD.

10. Press the 123 key once to bring up the number pad.
11. Press and hold the ABC key as you enter MEP.
12. Release the ABC key and enter 2.
13. The message 'Enter the Network MEP code' will appear. Enter the network lock code and press Enter.
